Life Is More Than Possessions

Scripture for Today
“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”
— Luke 12:15 (KJV)
In a world that constantly tells us that having more means living better, Jesus reminds us of something we must never forget: our lives are worth far more than what we own.
Possessions can be useful, but they were never meant to define us. Houses, cars, clothing, money, accomplishments, and material things can come and go. But our relationship with God, the people He has placed in our lives, the purpose He has given us, and the condition of our hearts carry eternal significance.
Jesus tells us to “take heed, and beware of covetousness.” That means we must intentionally guard our hearts. It is possible to have possessions without allowing possessions to possess us.
We should thank God for what we have without letting what we have become who we are.
Today, don’t measure your life by your bank account. Don’t measure your worth by what you can purchase. Don’t compare your journey with someone else’s possessions.
Your life is more than your possessions.
You are more than what you own.
You are more than what you drive.
You are more than what you wear.
You are more than what people can see.
Your greatest treasure is found in knowing God, walking in His purpose, loving others, and living a life that brings glory to Him.
Today, let’s shift our focus from what we have to Who we have.
And if we have Jesus, we have more than enough.
Today’s Prayer
Father, thank You for every blessing You have placed in our lives. Help us to appreciate what You have given us without allowing material possessions to become the measure of our worth or the focus of our hearts. Deliver us from covetousness, comparison, and the constant desire for more. Teach us to be content, grateful, generous, and faithful. Help us remember that our lives are more valuable than anything money can buy. May our greatest desire always be to know You, follow You, and glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
